The History of The Hard Luck Bears at Fantasilandia, Chile

The Hard Luck Bears (Show de Osos) - Fantasilandia (2001-"Now") In the year 2000, after the closure of the Chilean amusement park Mundo Mágico, many of its attractions and assets were gradually transferred to Fantasilandia, a larger and more financially stable park under the same ownership. Among the most notable elements relocated was the Hard Luck Bears animatronic show, originally created by Creative Engineering, Inc. (CEI). However, due to priority being placed on rides and major attractions from Mundo Mágico, the animatronics were placed in storage for nearly a year. Mid-2001: Installation at Fantasilandia By mid-2001, the Hard Luck Bears were finally installed at Fantasilandia, in a newly built theater located in the park’s Kid’s Zone (Villa Mágica). The show was rebranded with a new name: “Show de Osos” (“Bear Show”), replacing the earlier “Jamboree Show” name used during its run in Mundo Mágico. While the new name was less imaginative, it marked a "fresh start...

The History of The Hard Luck Bears in Mundo Mágico

The Hard Luck Bears (Jamboree Show) - Mundo Mágico (1983-2000) In 1983, the now-defunct amusement park Mundo Mágico opened its gates in Lo Prado, Santiago, Chile, introducing an ambitious Disney-style experience to the country. Among its many attractions, the park became home to a unique installation of The Hard Luck Bears, a pre-Rock-afire Explosion animatronic show created by Creative Engineering, Inc. (CEI). This installation, dubbed Jamboree Show in the park, marked one of the most sophisticated uses of animatronics in Chilean entertainment during the 1980s and 1990s. (Referencial Concept Art) The show was shipped to chile by CEI under the name "Country Bear Jamboree", likely as a confusion with the Disney show of the same name, though unrelated. It premiered alongside the park in 1983 and operated consistently until the park’s closure in 2000. Notably, the show performed inside the Teatro Mágico, a dedicated indoor theater with no dining association, a rare trait for CE...

The History of the New Rock-Afire Explosion at Mampato, Let's Fun

The New Rock-Afire Explosion, Mampato Lo Barnechea (Let's Fun) In 1995, the Chilean amusement park Mampato, located in the commune of Lo Barnechea in Santiago, inaugurated an indoor family entertainment center named Let’s Fun. The concept of Let’s Fun closely mirrored that of American venues such as Chuck E. Cheese’s and ShowBiz Pizza Place, offering arcade machines, carnival-style attractions, bowling lanes, and a pizza-focused restaurant. One of its most significant features was the installation of an advanced animatronic show: The New Rock-afire Explosion, developed by Creative Engineering, Inc. (CEI) and led by engineer and inventor Aaron Fechter. This marked the only installation of the New Rock-afire Explosion in Chile and the second known CEI animatronic show installed in the country—the first being The Hard Luck Bears show at Mundo Mágico (later relocated to Fantasilandia). Origins and Development of the Show The New Rock-afire Explosion was part of CEI’s mid-1990s initiati...
